Description:
Today, social networking is mainstream and chat applications have become the daily routine. The Internet allows people in different places to easily communicate with others. However, the traces and chat records that users leave on social networking sites are forever retained. In this Internet age, the hackers can break through the security walls of social networking sites to get out. My work attempts to expose these risks through an interactive art installation. In addition to being a work of art, mine is also a critical project for the critical production and reflection of science and technology that reveal social phenomena. In order to achieve this goal, I applied the principals of Critical Making and Critical Engineering to the question of Internet Privacy.
My work is an immersive interactive installation to expose online risks. It mainly composed of four elements: a physical environment with two small private room, a chat room application, bulbs and a real time Morse code translation app. Through these elements, I hope to have created a work that inspires individuals to consider what exactly they are giving up in order to gain access to the various convenient apps we use today.
